Swedish Invasion

In case you forgot that Washington, DC is a city that runs on politics, Ikea is here to remind you. The Swedish home furnishing company - famous for low prices and assembly instructions you need a Ph.D. to understand - has launched a clever new ad campaign in our nation's capitol. It started with a slew of banners and back lit signs inside the Gallery Place Chinatown metro station. Playing off slogans from the recent winning presidential campaign, as well as some of the not so funny problems facing this ccountry, Ikea encourages Americans to buy bookshelves, mattresses and entire home offices. As reported on local news and events website, www.epressnightout.com, Nordic design has now branched out from Chinatown and taken over Union Station. An Ikea furnished Oval Office? That's one way to lower the federal budget.

Many years ago, those IKEA instructions totally turned me into a Target girl! But, they have people at he White House that could probably understand the jibberish! They work in the Department of Furnishings, Knickknacks and Whatnots...

Lola, I feel like going to Ikea in Sweden would feel like entering some kind of alternate universe!
